This year for my birthday I decided to act my mental age. Most of you readers are probably already cringing. That would be an appropriate reaction!
I spent the day skiing with my friends Lisa, Wayne, and Ed at Mary Jane. There had been a lot of snow in the previous weeks and the runs were so soft. It was fluffly snowy goodness all day. By the end of the day I could no longer turn left. I went down the last run to the lodge taking huge, sweeping right hand turns. I'd stop when I ran out of run, slowly turn the other direction, and make another huge right hand turn. I must have left a nice scallopy design going down the hill. But when I got to the lodge there was coffee with baileys waiting for me. Good thing too. I needed the coffee.
After we got back to Denver, I quick went to another friends house, took a shower (which was needed), and off we went to see the greatest rock and roll band ever! Thankfully my friend John had heated seats in his car because my legs were already complaining about my mental age. We met up with a bunch of folks to see the Railbenders and the Supersuckers. I'm a big fan of the Railbenders but the Supersuckers - the self proclaimed best rock and roll band ever - was a new experience. They lived up to their claim. We had stools on the balcony looking over the band and the mosh pit. It was a toss up over whether watching the people in the pit or the band was the most entertaining. But I learned something new - I learned the the horn hand symbol is actually called the corna and you can look it up on wikipedia. Who knew! This internet is a crazy thing.
I got home at 2 am. Sadly my car does not have heated seats, so the drive back to my house was not as warm! It took two days to recover, but I'll do it again next year!
Happy birthday to me, happy birthday to me, la la la la la la laaaaaa, happy birthday to me!
